Steve Fugate roams the roads of America, walking thousands of miles with a sign stuck over his middle-aged head that reads “Love Life” — because of what happened to his son. This story was recorded by Mark Baldwin and produced by Larry Massett. It originally aired on NPR’s Hearing Voices.
You can follow Steve’s writing and walking at Trail Therapy.

Wow; what a story!
A story of love, heartbreak and survival. I am deeply moved by Steve’s response to incomprehensible loss.
This is a fabulous inspiration for life love and the stories we all carry. Erica Heilman, you have a gift to bring out the humanity in every interview, but this one touched me deeply. This, and the “Homlessness” podcast are right up there with the Vietnam Vetran Hairdresser, or the Farm Implement collector. Oh gosh, please keep them coming. I would so much rather listen to one of your well thought out podcasts, than to endure another Hollywood produced glamor “Moth” story on NPR. Each Rumble Strip podcast is uplifting in the way of great literature, poetry and music.
When the world discovers you and the your art. I might just mention, in passing, that I knew you when.
Ruth…thank you for this lovely comment….and I’m really happy you liked the show….but I can’t take any credit for that one! Larry Massett produced Love Life. So the most I can claim is that I have GREAT TASTE. And I’m lucky to have such talented friends…! Thank you so much for listening. E
